SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)

It is a continuous improvement course for existing bus captains to equip them with the appropriate skills to ensure that the bus is road worthy, manage onboard systems and route adherence, and analyse and mitigate onboard equipment failures during a service trip. This will help ensure the smooth running of Singapore’s public transport system.

This module is specifically targeted at the public transport sector – bus captains.

Bus captains will have the opportunity to be trained under a centralised programme that aims to standardise maintenance skills, through a common course curriculum, course duration and controlled learning environment.
After the training, Bus captains will be equipped with common basic maintenance skills and trouble-shooting knowledge for the bus types issued by LTA. Eventually, our objective is to upskill bus captains with additional technical knowledge and skills. This is part of our continued effort in improving bus safety and reliability. It also provides bus captains with future-ready skills and interest to pursue careers beyond driving.

This course is targeted at existing Bus Captains (BCs) with bus operators. They do possess sufficient knowledge of their job and the content, however, may not be practicing the required actions on a daily basis. This module is to reinforce the positive behaviours that they must incorporate into their everyday behaviour.

Therefore the entry requirements are:
● Experienced Bus captain from PTOs
● 21 years old and above
● Be able to listen, speak, read and write English (possess Level 3 and above in Workplace Literacy (WPL) skills as stated in the Employability Skills WSQ framework or equivalent) for those with no formal education
